The problem is rarely that you sweat too much, but that the sweat has nowhere to go. Anything that helps evaporation helps against sweaty feet.
A closed shoe with a synthetic lining traps moisture and then it starts to smell. Choose breathable shoes, alternate pairs daily so each can dry, and air removable insoles separately.
Wear socks made of cotton, wool or bamboo and change them daily, twice a day if there are complaints. Fully synthetic socks in a closed shoe are the least favourable combination.
Wash your feet daily with lukewarm water and a mild soap and dry carefully afterwards, paying extra attention between the toes. Washing too hot or using aggressive soap is counterproductive: the skin gets damaged and becomes more vulnerable.
Itching, white softened skin between the toes or a musty smell that lingers point to athlete's foot. If it persists after two weeks, see your GP.
