There is no single number that works for everyone. How often you visit depends on how fast your nails grow, how much callus you build, what work you do and whether there are complaints. Still, there is a rule of thumb that suits most people.
Toenails grow roughly half a millimetre to a millimetre a month, considerably slower than fingernails. After six to eight weeks there is enough growth to trim again and callus has had time to build up.
Come much sooner and there is little to do. Come much later and there is so much work that it does not always fit into one treatment. Six to eight weeks is the happy medium for most people.
With stubborn callus, recurring corns or cracks that keep opening, four to six weeks is often wiser. The same applies if you have a standing job or walk a lot on hard floors.
Nails that curve strongly or thicken quickly also call for a shorter rhythm, otherwise they start pressing against the shoe.
If you have little callus, your nails grow slowly and you care for your feet well at home, eight to ten weeks between appointments works fine.
If you notice the last two weeks before your appointment are always uncomfortable, that is the signal to shorten the interval.
Anyone who moisturises daily with a urea cream and uses a foot file after showering keeps the skin supple and naturally stretches the interval.
Anyone who does not will find that callus returns faster and cracks open sooner. Care at home and the rhythm at the practice are connected.
During the treatment Patty sees exactly how fast your callus and nails grow back. Based on that she advises what is sensible in your case, rather than imposing a standard interval.
If you want to be sure of a slot, book the next appointment straight away. It saves searching and stops too much time passing.

Do not wait until something hurts. A small spot that bothers you when walking is solved in half an hour; the same spot after three months usually is not.
There is little point coming more often than every four weeks, unless a complaint needs attention.
No problem. Sometimes two appointments close together are needed to get everything in order.
